  • Full Tilt Poker Vs Poker Stars

This debate has been raging for many years. The two biggest names in online poker are Pokerstars and Full Tilt Poker. These two poker rooms are hated rivals and they are constantly “one-upping” each other. This poker room war has greatly benefitted online poker players in general. I play at both rooms on a regular basis and I have been for many years. I was playing 8-Game mix the other day and one of the other players asked which room is better for mixed poker game players. That got me thinking, Pokerstars Vs Full Tilt Poker? After thinking about it for a little while I really didn’t know how to reply. Both rooms offer some unique mixed games and each room has their own perks. I decided to compile some statistics and do a professional comparision. Here are the categories I will rank each room on:

    • Mixed poker game variety
    • Mixed poker game traffic
    • Mixed poker game MTT’s and sitngos
    • Mixed poker game softness (competition)
    • General (bonuses, software..ect)

Mixed Poker Game Variety -  Fulltilt Poker Vs Pokerstars

This one is going to be the easiest to figure out. Bother rooms have an extensive mixed poker game line-up but one has more than the other. Full Tilt Poker offers 10 different mixed poker games while Pokerstars only offers 7 so Fulltilt is the clear winner.

Results: Full Tilt Poker: 10 games – WINNER!
    Results: Poker Stars: 7 games

Mixed Poker Game Traffic – Full Tilt Poker vs Poker Stars

This one is also pretty easy to figure out. For the last few years I have kept tabs on traffic stats for the major mixed games for each room. Poker Stars wins this category by a considerable margin. I added up the real money traffic levels for each mixed game 5 times a day for a week. I averaged these out to come up with a daily traffic level. Please keep in mind that these are not peak levels, they are averages throughout the day. Here are the results below.

Results: Pokerstars: 150 players – WINNER!
Results: Full Tilt Poker: 85 players

Mixed Game Tournaments – Full Tilt Poker vs Poker Stars

When it comes to mixed poker variant tournaments and STG’s these two rooms are very close. Both offer a big weekly guaranteed event as well as daily tournaments with nice prize pools. I looked at the numbers of mixed game tournaments per week, the total number of players and added up the prize pools. I also compiled some stats for the number of mixed game sitngos played each day (averaged), here are the results below.

Results: Pokerstars: 20% better than Fulltilt Poker – WINNER!
Results: Full Tilt Poker: Close but no cigar

Mixed Game Competition – Full Tilt Poker vs Poker Stars

This category is very subjective. There are so many factors involved that I can’t say one room is easier to win money at than the other. Playing styles and POV’s can really mix up the results. I’ve used my own results/opinion as well as average flop percentages to rate each room.

Results: Pokerstars: Slightly easier to win money at  – WINNER!
Results: Full Tilt Poker: Very close.

General  – FullTilt Poker vs PokerStars

This one is also very subjective. I’ve looked at the bonuses, software, VIP programs and banking to decide which room is better. They both boast superb software, easy deposits and super fast cashouts. Full Tilt just launched a new VIP program, The Black Card, so that makes thing harder. Pokerstars has always had the most rewarding VIP program in the industry but now Full Tilt is giving them a run for their money. In the end I chose Pokerstars because their new player deposit bonus is much better. Pokerstars will give players that use our special bonus code THREE 100% match bonuses that stack together, up to $600. Full Tilt also offers a $600 max bonus bu they only match your first deposit.

Results: Pokerstars: Slightly better  – WINNER!
Results: Full Tilt Poker: Very close.

    Final Thoughts

So out of five categories Poker Stars won 4 of them, making them the clear winner. They came very close in every category except mixed game traffic so the results are very subjective. I would say that you should try both rooms out until you figure out which one you like best. This has the added benefit of giving you up to $1,200 in bonus money. Full Tilt and Pokerstars each offer a very popular mixed game, 8-Game Mix and 7-Game Mix. If you like to play Triple Draw than 8-Game will be better but if you don’t than 7-Game will be better. We offer a special bonus deal for mixed game players at each room. Read our review for more details.
