Best Online Poker Websites For Mixed Games
There are several online poker websites that offer mixed poker games like Horse poker. The most notable are Full Tilt Poker, Absolute Poker and Pokerstars. This post will look at why these are the best mixed poker game and horse poker sites online today. I will be judging which of these poker rooms is the best for the average mixed game player. I will be using several factors to determine this. In previous years Pokerstars has always been the clear winner but things have changed in the last several months so they may not still hold that title. Let’s take a look at the factors that I will be using to determine who is the best of the best. I will award each room with 1-10 points for each category.
- Mixed game traffic
- Mixed poker game variety
- Competition
Mixed Poker Game Traffic
A year ago Pokerstars had around 150% more real money traffic than Full Tilt Poker. That lead has slipped to 80%. Absolute Poker is a distant third in terms of overall traffic and mixed game traffic so this will be between Stars and Tilt. Overall traffic at an online poker site doesn’t matter to a mixed game player. So how does the mixed game traffic at Full Tilt Poker compare to what you will find at Pokerstars. Despite the fact that Pokerstars has 80% more cash game traffic on average, they only beat FTP in mixed game traffic by a mere 10% and that number is decreasing every month. So for the moment Pokerstars hold a small advantage over Tilt in this category:

- Pokerstars: 10 points
- Full Tilt Poker: 9 points
- Absolute Poker: 2 points
Mixed Poker Game Variety
Both Pokerstars and Full Tilt Poker have added new mixed games in the last 12 months. Full Tilt Poker was always at a huge disadvantage because they only offers the standard poker games while Pokerstars offer those and several draw poker games which enabled them to offer 8-Game. Full Tilt was limited to offering 7-Game. Nowadays Full Tilt Poker offers 8-Game, 9-Game and 10-Game. This is possible because they added 2-7 Triple Draw, Single Draw, A-5 Triple Draw and Badugi. In total, Pokerstars offers 7 mixed poker games, Full Tilt offers 13 mixed games and Absolute Poker comes in a distant third with their two mixed games: Horse and Hose poker.

- Full Tilt Poker: 10 points
- Pokerstars: 7 points
- Absolute Poker: 3 points
Mixed Poker Game Competition
By “competition” I am referring to the average skill level of the mixed game players at each of these online poker websites. You want to play at the poker site that has the weakest competition. Traffic players a small part in this category because it is easier to find a soft table if you have more to choose from. The players at Pokerstars are without a doubt the toughest mixed game players online. If you look at 10-Game mix at Full Tilt you will realize that it includes several of their new poker games (Badugi, 2-7 Triple Draw & 2-7 Single Draw). These games have only been available there for several months. That hasn’t stopped hundreds of players from flocking to the 10-Game tables.
I would estimate that only a third of the 10-Game players actually have previous experience with these three games. Everyone else is learning on the go. I own high ranking poker sites for two of these games and I saw a huge spike in traffic when Fulltilt added these games. That means that most players probably just browsed through my rules and strategy articles. I hate to admit this but the strategy articles on those sites are very poor so they didn’t learn much. So because of the complexity 10-Game and the general inexperience of the players at the tables Full Tilt has the softest mixed game competition online.
Results:
- Full Tilt Poker: 10 points
- Pokerstars: 6 points
- Absolute Poker: 5 points
The Results
Full Tilt Poker wins by a long shot. Out of 30 overall points they scored 29. Pokerstars came in a distant second with only 23 points. Absolute Poker finished dead last with 10 points. This is a big shift from the results of a similar post I wrote around a year ago.
